UPSI, 2nd April – Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris expands its global reach by signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) for a time period of five years.
The Vice Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Dr, Mohammad Shatar bin Sabran says that by signing this MoU, it would further strengthen and promote UPSI through the intake of international students, enable the exchange of student programmes mainly in the STEM field and would encourage even more modern, new innovations with a broader thinking.
Meanwhile, the Director of the Research Management Office, PUP, Dr. Racidon P. Bernarte says that this collaboration would enable both parties to work together in the research through a field that is mutually agreed, implement mobility programme for the students, faculty staffs, as well as teaching and learning based on institutional disciplines, explore the potential of collaboration in the execution of an international conference, and also academics that have a mutual agreement by both parties.
Besides, PUP is also interested to commit interchange in educational materials, publications, research and instructional materials that benefit both institutions along with venturing opportunities for offers in dual programmes or academic programmes along with the agreement of both parties.
UPSI is represented by the Vice Chancellor meanwhile PUP was represented by Dr. Racidon P. Bernarte, whom is also the Assistant to the Vice President of the Research, Planning and Development Expansion, and was witnessed by the Registrar, Dr. Hajah Zainab Othman and the Executive Vice-President and Vice for Student Affairs and Services, Dr. Herminia E. Manimtim.
Also present is the Director of Intellectual Property, PUP, Professor Jackie D. Urrutia, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Mathematics, UPSI, Associate Professor Dr. Zulkifley Mohamed and the Dean of the Institute of Graduate Studies, UPSI, Associate Professor Dr. Ramlee Ismail.
